Tell Ohio Lawmakers to Support Wombat Solar

Join your fellow union members in supporting the Wombat Solar project, which will provide union jobs with good wages and benefits for Crawford County residents and the state of Ohio.

The Crawford County Commissioners have created a blanket ban on solar projects, ignoring the wishes of local residents and the unions who turned out to support this project. We’re asking you to sign this petition to urge them to reconsider, allowing us a fair shot at local jobs for our members.

I’m a proud union member asking for your help moving the Wombat Solar project forward in Crawford County. Please join us in urging the Crawford County Commissioners to redraw the solar exclusion zone in line with the wishes of the people and the wishes of Dallas Township.

Wombat Solar has committed to Ohio’s Three Trades, the electricians, laborers, and operating engineers, by signing a project labor agreement with these unions that will enforce fair wages and benefits, guarantee a percentage of the workforce will be apprentices, and pledge to employ an Ohio-based workforce. That’s the kind of commitment that keeps work here at home and sustains family-supporting careers for those in the trades.

As you know, under SB 52, County Commissioners can create renewable energy exclusion zones. When Crawford County held a hearing on creating an exclusion zone, they created a blanket ban over the county despite overwhelming public attendance in favor of Wombat Solar at the hearing. The men and women of the Ohio Three Trades turned out to speak up, and they were ignored. I’m asking you to use your voice to encourage the Crawford County Commissioners to realign the exclusion zone and give their members a fair shot at good local work.

The stakes for our workforce and our manufacturing backbone are real. Solar sites of this scale bring steady, local paychecks and union benefits to workers who want to build a middle-class life close to home. These projects are already growing union membership and creating a reliable pipeline of careers across our region. They also spark broader economic activity, bringing more customers to local restaurants and gas stations. This is how we keep our communities strong and open for business.
