Dear [Lawmaker],

Iowa’s energy future depends on smart policies that drive innovation, lower costs and strengthen our economy. I am writing to thank you for being a clean energy champion and for promoting energy policy that promotes both economic progress and practicality.

As you know, our energy and advanced manufacturing industries already support more than ten thousand jobs across Iowa, and public-private partnerships driven by federal investments are set to create another 252,200 jobs over the next decade.

Not only is continued energy expansion and investment vital to providing good-paying jobs in Iowa, but they also contribute to America’s energy dominance. Iowa’s energy businesses and workers play a direct role in bolstering our national energy security, reducing our dependence on foreign energy sources and strengthening our competitiveness. Unleashing American energy production will help to meet our state’s growing power demands and prevent energy costs from rising.

As the Senate considers the budget bill, we need to ensure that any modification to current tax policies embrace an American-made all-of-the-above energy policy. Specifically, we need to ensure that  wind components are not excluded from the advanced manufacturing tax credit - an industry that is especially important to Iowa.
