New Mexico: Oppose SB 17
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a law-abiding New Mexico resident and your constituent, I urge you to OPPOSE Senate Bill 17. SB 17 is an extreme and unconstitutional package of gun control measures that would ban commonly owned firearms, prohibit standard-capacity magazines, and impose excessive regulatory burdens on local firearm dealers. This legislation does nothing to address violent crime and instead punishes responsible gun owners and small businesses that comply with existing law. The bill’s centralized record-keeping requirements also raise serious concerns about the privacy and safety of lawful firearm owners, while its harsh penalties expose dealers to felony charges for minor technical violations. I respectfully ask that you stand up for the constitutional rights of New Mexicans by voting NO on SB 17 when it comes before your committee. Thank you for your time and consideration.
