Protect South Carolina's Vape Industry

We need your help protecting South Carolina’s vape industry. Right now, Governor McMaster is considering signing SB 287, which will eliminate almost all vape products except for a few of Big Tobacco’s products.

We MUST take action to protect our small businesses and our right to access flavored vapes before it’s too late.

Dear Governor McMaster,

I am asking you to VETO SB 287, which is a near-total vape ban. It leaves only a handful of less harmful vapes on the market to compete with thousands of deadly cigarettes. Prohibition doesn't work and will only force South Carolinians to find their favored vape products on a dangerous black market.

This bill will force South Carolina to adopt, ratify, and enforce the failed FDA regulatory scheme, which multiple courts have declared illegal and President Trump does not support! Simply put, SB 287 sets up a new tobacco registry and czar controlling what’s sold in South Carolina stores using state resources to shut down hundreds of small businesses and eliminate millions of dollars of state and local tax revenue.

Under SB 287, we will be forced to revert to smoking combustible cigarettes. Vaping saves lives. A recent analysis of government data proved that adults shifting from combustible cigarettes to vaping has saved over 113,000 people from premature death & is projected to save over 325,000 people by 2030.

According to studies, e-cigarettes are 2-3 times more effective than any FDA-approved smoking cessation devices. And CDC data shows that youth vaping is at an all-time low, far lower than youth cannabis and alcohol use.

This bill's undeniable purpose is to ban less harmful alternatives to deadly cigarettes, keep South Carolina smoking, crush South Carolina small businesses, and prop up Big Tobacco.

Please take action to protect consumer choice and small businesses across South Carolina by vetoing SB 287.
