New Hampshire: House Committee Hearing on the Right to Hunt Scheduled for Feb. 3.
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow resident of New Hampshire, I urge you to SUPPORT CAR 15 in your committee. CACR 15 would create a constitutional right to hunt and fish and establish hunting and fishing by traditional methods as the primary means of maintaining healthy wildlife populations, subject to existing laws enacted by the New Hampshire General Court. This proposed amendment preserves the state's ability to ensure that the taking of game is done through currently recognized appropriate methods, consistent with wildlife management goals, and does not alter private property rights. But by strengthening the right to hunt and fish, a constitutional amendment offers substantial protection for sportsmen from legal or legislative attacks on that right by organizations like PETA. Hunters and sportsmen in the Granite State and across the US are the driving force behind land conservation, protecting our natural resources and environment. Strengthening these rights through this proposed amendment ensures that the vital role continues in future generations of hunters and anglers. At the time of the founding of the nation, while English law always considered game to be the property of the king, our American heritage, including our legal traditions, recognized that those rights belong to the people. CACR 15 would allow voters, hunters, trappers, and anglers to etch those rights into New Hampshire law. Again, I encourage you to SUPPORT CAR 15. Thank you for all that you do for the Granite State.
Sincerely,
______
