Alaska: Gun Owner Financial Privacy Bill Passes Senate Committee
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow Alaskan, I urge you to SUPPORT SB 136 when it comes to a vote in your committee. SB 136 prohibits the use of firearm-specific Merchant Category Codes that could be used to track lawful firearm and ammunition purchases or create de facto registries of gun owners. The bill also bars financial institutions and payment networks from discriminating against firearm retailers or disclosing transaction data collected in violation of this protection.
