Support Farmers: Pass the Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act Now

Dear [Lawmaker],

Right now, American agriculture is under assault from radical activists inside and outside of government, including those who have seized upon the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission's work as an opportunity to advance anti-farming agendas. Their efforts follow attempts by some states to regulate pesticides in a manner inconsistent with federal law, congressional intent, and broad scientific consensus. These misguided initiatives threaten the future availability of critical agricultural tools, such as pesticides, that American farmers need to ensure we have enough healthy, affordable food. Safe, approved pesticides help farmers control invasive weeds efficiently and sustainably—supporting high crop yields, lower food prices, and conservation practices that reduce land and resource use.

Inclusion of the Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act in this year's “skinny” Farm Bill would support American farmers and protect the future of these important tools while ensuring a stable, affordable, and healthy food supply for all Americans.

This legislation is supported by more than 365 agricultural groups from across the United States. It would simply reinforce the EPA's role as the national authority on pesticide labeling and packaging requirements, while still allowing states to enact sale and use restrictions under current law.

Without this legislation, farmers may be forced to rely solely on foreign sources or revert to costly, antiquated farming practices. This would drive up grocery prices for American consumers, jeopardize farmers' livelihoods, and put our food and national security at risk.

Including the Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act in the upcoming “skinny” Farm Bill will prevent these potentially catastrophic consequences and provide certainty to farmers and consumers in our state that the essential tools supporting our food supply will remain safe and available.
