As a proud pro-Israel Oregonian, I am extremely disappointed with you leading the AWARE Act – a baseless attack on our strongest ally in the Middle East.

Your bill falsely blames Israel, instead of Hamas, for the humanitarian situation in Gaza and attacks the Jewish state for insisting that groups delivering aid to Gaza not be affiliated with terrorists.

Despite Israel surging humanitarian aid to Gaza, your bill would impose sanctions on Israeli officials under the false claim that it is indiscriminately blocking aid to Gaza. 

Israel, working with the U.S.-led Civil-Military Coordination Center, is working to deliver massive quantities of aid to Gaza, exceeding the amount required under the ceasefire agreement, and dramatically improving the humanitarian situation in the Strip.

Hamas, over the past two years, has stolen aid, attacked Gazans seeking assistance, and done everything in its power to worsen the humanitarian situation in Gaza in order to generate international pressure against Israel. Where is your “accountability” for Hamas?

I am extremely disappointed you are leading this effort, and I urge you to reverse course on this dangerous anti-Israel effort.
