Commit to Building Faster

Dear [Lawmaker],

Building a reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy future requires reforming permitting processes that can add up to five years and millions of dollars in costs to critical infrastructure projects.

That’s why I’m asking you to commit to cutting the red tape that slows American energy projects. Without serious reform, we will not meet increasing energy demand at affordable prices.

I ask that you:
- Modernize the National Environmental Policy Act to accelerate critical energy infrastructure projects while maintaining strong environmental standards
- Prioritize updating and building out transmission lines and pipelines to strengthen and secure the energy grid
- Establish limits on judicial review to reduce uncertainty and prevent litigation from stopping energy projects
- Ensure permitting certainty for projects that have been approved and have commenced construction
- Expand the use of categorical exclusions for low-impact and well-understood projects

Building American energy projects faster will both protect the environment and strengthen our economy. Thank you for your leadership on this issue.
