Urge Congress: Don't Reward Hamas

As a constituent deeply concerned with the national security of the U.S. and Israel, I urge you to oppose H.Res. 876, a resolution that falsely accuses Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
This dangerous resolution presents a one-sided and deeply misleading narrative. It does not mention Hamas nor the October 7 attack, when the officially designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) murdered 1,200 people, abducted over 250 hostages, and declared its intent to repeat these atrocities again. Any assessment of the conflict that excludes these facts creates a highly distorted and harmful picture.
Furthermore, the accusation of genocide ignores the legal standard of intent. Israel’s objective has been to defeat Hamas, return the hostages, and protect its citizens. During the war, Israel went to extraordinary lengths to warn civilians and move them out of harm’s way. When the ceasefire was reached and hostages were released, Israel halted offensive operations. This demonstrates clearly that Israel did not intend the destruction of the Palestinian people.
Moreover, the resolution fails to acknowledge the role Hamas played in increasing Palestinian civilian deaths and suffering. Hamas embedded its fighters in civilian areas, often without uniforms, used hospitals, schools and homes for military purposes, looted humanitarian aid to feed its fighters and finance its operations, among other things. I Ignoring these facts, the resolution relies instead on claims that omit essential context. Hamas leadership acknowledged that the death and suffering of Palestinians was a strategic tool in their effort to garner international sympathy.
H.Res. 876 would reward Hamas and punish Israel for exercising its right to self-defense and would legitimize a false narrative that damages bipartisan support for America’s
closest ally in the Middle East. It would also weaken U.S. leadership at a time when our allies and adversaries alike are watching closely.
We ask you to stand with Israel and the U.S.-Israel alliance, oppose H. Res. 876, and hold Hamas accountable for its terrorist actions, ensuring it cannot endanger civilians again.
