All Oregonians care about our state forests – they support local economies, create wildlife habitat, provide access to recreation and produce locally sourced, green building products for critical housing needs.
Over half of state forests are already set aside exclusively for wildlife habitat with little to no timber harvest.
HB 4105 doesn’t change that or any other state or federal environmental protections.
The bill improves public transparency and predictability around timber harvests on state forestland.
This will allow counties and local businesses the ability to plan ahead for budgets that depend on timber revenue for local roads, schools, health care and other vital public services.
