Anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib is pushing a resolution falsely accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza for defending itself against Hamas’ horrific October 7 massacre. You’re supporting an anti-Israel lie

Dear [Lawmaker],

As your constituent and an AIPAC member, I urge you to oppose the dangerous and malicious resolution (H.Res.876) led by Rep. Rashida Tlaib falsely accusing our democratic ally Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. 

Hamas, dedicated to the elimination of the Jewish state, carried out a genocidal attack on October 7th, and has pledged to do it “again and again.” Israel had the right and responsibility to defend itself and prevent such an attack from ever happening again.

As the resolution notes, genocide requires the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. This has never been the Israeli intent. Israel’s actions have always been directed at defeating Hamas, returning the hostages, and ensuring Hamas can never threaten Israel again. 

When the ceasefire was reached and the living hostages were returned, Israel ceased offensive operations, a clear statement that the intent of Israel was never the destruction of the Palestinian people.

Tlaib’s resolution inverts reality, minimizes the horrific nature of actual genocide, and effectively rewards Hamas. 

While the situation in Gaza has undoubtedly been difficult over the last two years, the claim of genocide is simply false. Nearly every accusation against Israel in the resolution is a lie, falsehood, misrepresentation or lacks critical context. The resolution does not mention Hamas once. The resolution does not mention October 7 once. The resolution fails to mention the 1,200 people killed on October 7 or the more than 250 hostages taken by Hamas.

I strongly urge you to reject this dangerous effort that would embolden and enable Hamas, punish Israel for exercising its right to self-defense, and legitimize a blood libel against the Jewish state.
