Supervisors Shouldn’t Restrict Rights Based on Feelings
A handful of wind opponents admitted they “don’t want to look at” wind turbines in comments made to Clinton County Supervisors. Supervisors will decide if landowners will have the freedom to host wind energy on their own land – or be denied.
We shouldn’t take away other people’s property rights or throw away millions of dollars because a neighbor doesn’t like the view.
Wind energy brings real benefits to Clinton County — revenue for roads, schools, and local services without raising taxes. State law limits what counties can collect, and wind income is one of the few tools left. Turning it down means turning down millions we can’t replace.
Those are facts.
Opposition Based on Feelings – Not Fact
But opponents don’t offer facts. They offer feelings. And ask the county government to block landowners from using their own property the way they want because they don’t like how turbines look.
They want freedom for their land, but restrictions for others.
And once Supervisors give in to emotion, and pick one person’s property rights over another’s – where does it stop?
Tell the Supervisors: base decisions on facts, not feelings — and protect the rights of every Clinton County landowner. Including those who – based on the facts – see the economic benefits of local wind energy.
