Oppose SB 775, HB 1067, and HB 197
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow Maryland resident and your constituent, I respectfully urge you to OPPOSE SB 775, HB 1067, and HB 197. SB 775 would mandate the permanent destruction of firearms surrendered through gun buyback programs, eliminating lawful alternatives and imposing unnecessary penalties on licensed dealers and law enforcement agencies. HB 1067 would require a sweeping phase-out of traditional lead ammunition for hunting, significantly increasing costs and limiting options for Maryland sportsmen. HB 197 would impose an additional 11% excise tax on firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition, unfairly targeting law-abiding gun owners with a punitive financial burden. These measures burden responsible firearm owners and hunters while doing little to address criminal misuse. Again, I respectfully urge you to OPPOSE SB 775, HB 1067, and HB 197.
