I strongly urge your office to end the ongoing coastal lawsuits against Louisiana’s energy producers.

Louisiana has once again been named among the top 5 worst Judicial Hellholes in the United States by the American Tort Reform Association. It is beyond time for bold action that finally prioritizes Louisiana businesses and the rule of law over the revenue of plaintiff lawyers. Yet, your office continues to sue energy producers – key historical Louisiana job employers and corporate taxpayers – in the coastal lawsuits.

These coastal lawsuits cost our economy over $110 million a year.  Suing energy companies is a short-sighted measure that does nothing to help, and only hurts, Louisiana’s long term financial viability. When billboard lawyers’ interests drive Louisiana policy instead of independent, long-term judgment, Louisianians suffer.

Your office is uniquely positioned to take meaningful action to create real, sustainable economic growth for the State.  We desperately need pro-growth, pro-business leadership in Louisiana that supports the President’s agenda to achieve energy dominance.

The effort to attempt to convince Louisianans that the coastal litigation is a good thing has run its course.  The people of Louisiana are now pleading with you to reconsider. Please put an end to the coastal lawsuits against our energy industry.
