I’m writing to express my strong support for the proposed data center campus on the 40-acre site that has remained unused for the past 25 years. The Karis Critical data center campus represents a significant investment in our community—one that will generate jobs, increase tax revenue, and stimulate the local economy.

The data center has been thoughtfully designed for efficiency and stewardship. It will provide substantial economic and fiscal benefits for Naperville, all while minimizing impact on nearby residents and the environment.

The developer has demonstrated a commitment to responsible development by actively engaging with the community and refining their plans based on feedback.

The new facility is 65% smaller than the former office building that had thousands of workers.

Compared to the former corporate headquarters, the new campus will have a smaller physical footprint, fewer daily commuters, and significantly lower water usage. Importantly, Karis has pledged to power the facility with renewable energy procured through the City’s Green Energy Certificate Program – the first business in Naperville to volunteer to support this important program.

While some may raise philosophical concerns about this type of infrastructure, it’s important to recognize that data centers are foundational to modern life.

Naperville’s residents and businesses depend on cloud-based technologies every day—from communication and commerce to education and healthcare.

Not all data centers are the same, and this proposal stands out for its thoughtful design and community-minded approach.

Revitalizing this long-vacant property will bring new employment opportunities, help attract and retain innovative companies, and unlock millions in annual tax revenue—funds that can be reinvested into services and programs that improve life for Naperville families.

I urge you to focus on the facts and the specific benefits this proposal offers compared to the status quo. A boutique data center that generates revenue, creates jobs, and strengthens our economy is a far better use of this land.
