Tell Rep. Quigley: Don’t Reward Hamas with a Palestinian state

Your member of Congress, Rep. Mike Quigley, recently called for the U.S. to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state, effectively calling to reward Hamas and sending a dangerous message that progress can be achieved through terrorism rather than negotiation.

Dear [Lawmaker],

I am deeply alarmed by your recent statement on Israel and recognition of a Palestinian state.
By calling for the U.S. to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state, your statement rewards Hamas and sends a dangerous message that progress can be achieved through terrorism rather than negotiation.
Hamas has thanked those recognizing a Palestinian state, saying it's evidence of “the fruits of October 7” and that their recognition is a result of the “resistance and the blow we dealt to Israel.”
You set no demands or conditions for a future Palestinian state, not even including a mention of Hamas’ prospective role nor any viable plan that forces Hamas out of power in Gaza.
Your statement also used Hamas' "Health Ministry's" casualty numbers, which don't differentiate between Hamas fighters and civilians, and you said that all future U.S. aid to Israel "must face stringent oversight and review," while ignoring that U.S. aid to Israel already undergoes the same highly stringent oversight and review that is applied to all recipients of U.S. aid.
I am extremely disappointed and alarmed at your statement, and I urge you to reconsider your position.
