Speaking at J Street’s national convention this weekend, Sen. Van Hollen said, “AIPAC may call itself pro-American. They may call themselves pro-Israel. But they are neither.”

These comments double down on a dangerous trend of people questioning the patriotism and loyalty of pro-Israel Americans. It’s despicable and should have no place in America, let alone in the Senate.

I am extremely disappointed and deeply offended by your remarks at J Street's national convention, where you declared that AIPAC is "neither" pro-American nor pro-Israel. 

Calling pro-Israel Americans 'anti-American' feeds directly into antisemitic tropes of Jewish disloyalty. Opposing dangerous conditions on Israel's security assistance is not un-American; it is standing by a vital democratic ally. 

The U.S.-Israel alliance serves both nations. Using your Senate platform to attack the pro-Israel community and your constituents is reckless and has no place in American politics.

I’m a constituent who supports the U.S.-Israel action to confront the murderous regime in Iran that threatens America, our allies including Israel, and has massacred more than 30,000 of its own people over the past several weeks.

Early Saturday morning, the United States launched Operation Epic Fury, and Israel launched Operation Roaring Lion, to counter the dangerous threat posed by Iran.

The two democratic allies are working together to end Iran’s nuclear efforts, eliminate the regime’s ballistic missile program, and deliver justice to the Iranian leaders who oversaw the massacre of the Iranian people.

The United States and Israel are working together to make the world a safer place and eliminate this mutual threat to both countries.

Now, we must hope for the safety and success of the American and allied troops in harm’s way, and for the safety of innocent civilians.
