Protect our Rights to Kratom
Dear [Lawmaker],
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is threatening my access to kratom by wrongly declaring all forms of kratom products “adulterated” under Michigan law. This misclassification is already causing retailers to stop selling natural kratom—cutting off access to safe, natural kratom products for consumers like me who rely on it. Kratom leaf is a natural botanical that thousands of Michiganders depend on for wellbeing. In fact…(add a personal note about your positive experience using natural leaf kratom). MDARD’s misguided action will hurt consumers like me and push people to less reputable sources and risky online markets. I urge you to stand up for consumers and tell MDARD to: Stop misclassifying natural kratom as “adulterated.” Protect consumers’ right to safe and legal access. Pursue sensible regulation through the legislature, not prohibition by regulator overreach. Follow the lead of the FDA which has called for concentrated synthetic 7-OH products to be scheduled as a controlled substance. The FDA also made it clear that natural kratom is not subject to the FDA’s actions, and has minimal health concerns. Please act now to protect the rights of Michigan kratom consumers. Thank you.
Sincerely,
______
