Support HB 126 / Oppose SB 181 & SB 334
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow resident of Maryland and your constituent, I am writing to urge you to OPPOSE Senate Bill 181 and Senate Bill 334, and to SUPPORT House Bill 126. Senate Bill 181 would phase out lead ammunition for hunting statewide, significantly increasing costs for hunters and limiting lawful ammunition options. This bill sets a dangerous precedent for future ammunition restrictions and unfairly targets law-abiding sportsmen. Senate Bill 334 uses vague and overbroad language to ban many common semi-automatic handguns under the guise of regulating so-called “machine gun convertible pistols.” Conversion devices are already illegal, and this legislation punishes lawful gun owners and dealers for criminal misuse. In contrast, House Bill 126 provides a commonsense exemption from Maryland’s seven-day waiting period for active and retired law enforcement officers and lawful permit holders who have already undergone extensive background checks and training. I respectfully urge you to defend the rights of Maryland’s law-abiding gun owners by OPPOSING SB 181 and SB 334, and SUPPORTING HB 126. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
______
