Dear [Lawmaker],

I wanted to reach out and say thank you for standing up for patients like me by keeping pharmacies open. My nearby pharmacy is where I pick up prescriptions and refills, and there’s a possibility it would close if some of the proposed legislation does pass.

I'm worried about some of the bills floating around right now. I know they probably come from a good place, but I’ve also heard they could force chain pharmacies to close their doors. That's bad news for all of us and means there’s fewer places to go and higher prices at the pharmacies that remain.

I really appreciate you being willing to take a stand on this. Please keep pushing back against anything that threatens our community pharmacies.

I’m writing because I want to ask you to vote against any bills that would make it harder to get prescriptions filled or for local pharmacies to stay open.

Drug prices keep getting higher, and I’m grateful for any work that lowers costs. What worries me is that breaking up healthcare companies could make things tougher, not better. I have heard talk about closing hundreds of chain pharmacy locations. If that happens, I would have to drive to the closest independent pharmacy, which is costly both for gas money and in time.

Plenty of people in my area are in the same boat. Long drives for a prescription are not realistic for many of us. Please do not put patients in a spot where we have to choose between our medication and work, family time, or a reliable grocery budget.

Patients like me need you to oppose any legislation that could lead to chain pharmacy closures across the state.
