Every single New Mexican will fell the negative impact of SB 18 —the Clear Horizons Act—at the grocery store, in your utility bills, and at the pump.

Members of the New Mexico Senate Conservation Committee just voted yes to advance SB 18 despite clear warnings that it will raise costs and make New Mexico more expensive to live.

Every New Mexican will feel the consequences of this vote.

When lawmakers vote for policies that raise costs, working New Mexicans pay the price on their monthly bills.

It simply isn’t possible for New Mexico’s oil & gas industry—or any industrialized sector—to operate under the timeframe demands of this bill. If energy production is pushed out of New Mexico, the state risks losing the revenue that funds childcare, higher teacher salaries, first responders, public safety, and essential services.

New Mexico is already #1 in methane reduction while achieving record‑high production. We’ve shown that we can protect the environment and support a strong economy. SB 18 goes too far—and this committee vote proves lawmakers are ignoring the real‑world consequences.

Santa Fe needs a reality check. New Mexicans cannot afford a higher cost of living driven by extreme legislation.
