This session, the Texas Legislature allocated $5 million to the Rural Veterinarian Incentive Program (RVIP).

As a veterinarian practicing in your district, I would like to thank you for your leadership in supporting rural Texas communities through your investment in the Rural Veterinarian Incentive Program (RVIP). The $5 million appropriation this session will directly address areas of need in food animal and rural practice statewide.

By helping new veterinarians manage student debt in exchange for service in rural counties, the RVIP makes it financially feasible for graduates to pursue careers in food and large animal medicine—fields essential to Texas agriculture and public health. Your support ensures that rural producers, families, and communities have access to the veterinary care they need to thrive, while protecting our state's $15B agriculture economy.

The first recipients of RVIP funding will be announced in February, and I look forward to seeing the impact these young veterinarians will have on their communities and our state as a whole.
