That’s why I request that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) move swiftly to approve Texas’ application to manage oversight of wells used for storing captured carbon. 
With its demonstrated energy expertise, Texas can take advantage of this critical technology, but it must first take control of its own future. $q2::
Texas’ world-class industrial, manufacturing and energy sectors are uniquely positioned to benefit from CCS. CCS would allow those sectors – that have long been the backbone of the state – to continue providing Texas-sized economic opportunities for future generations.
By allowing state regulators to oversee the permitting process, the EPA can accelerate deployment of CCS technologies that will add value to U.S. products around the world, while lowering emissions for critical industries. Action on Texas’ Class VI Primacy application is a key step toward allowing more Texas businesses – from chemical production to power plants – to thrive.
It is for these reasons that I urge the EPA to grant the state of Texas primacy over Class VI wells to advance CCS projects.
