Tell Congress AARP Doesn't Stand for Seniors

Every time Washington talks about “fixing” health care, things get worse for patients and taxpayers.

Why? Because AARP – one of the most powerful lobbying forces in D.C. – stands in the way.

AARP’s membership dues in 2024 only amounted to 3% of its total revenue. The rest – over $9 billion – came from the largest health insurance company UnitedHealth. It’s time Congress knows that AARP doesn’t represent senior citizens – just Big Insurance.

Dear [Lawmaker]:

Every round of health care reform just seems to drive more consolidation, less choice, and higher prices.  These repeated failures are because the most powerful lobbying force on health care is under the effective control of the largest health insurance conglomerate.

AARP isn't really a senior advocacy group.

When AARP's lobbyists swarm your office on Capitol Hill pretending to "protect seniors," while lobbying for sweeping legislative changes such as Obamacare, Biden's "Inflation Reduction Act" price controls, and insurance company bailouts, you need to understand they are simply the advocacy and marketing arm of UnitedHealth and discount their claims accordingly.

Until AARP is discredited as a messenger, real health care reform that lowers costs, protects patients, and drives the development of new treatments and cures remains impossible.
