Right now, Apple and Google allow children to download apps meant for adults, sign binding contracts, and be exposed to predators and harmful content, all without parental consent.
The App Store Accountability Act is a commonsense, bipartisan solution that simply says:
If an app store knows a user is a child, it must require parental consent to sign contracts with apps, and tell parents what their kids are agreeing to.
This legislation ensures:
Privacy preserving age verification at the app store level so kids can’t bypass safety checks.
Parental consent before minors download or purchase apps.
Transparency about what apps are rated, do, and the data they collect.
Texas, Utah, and Louisiana have already passed this reform with strong bipartisan support. Now it’s time for Florida to join them.
