Support Low Income Kids
Please consider sharing this message with your lawmakers. Thank you for your support!
Dear [Lawmaker],
As your constituent, I respectfully urge you to support HB 2468 that expands educational opportunities for low-income Kansas students. By opting Kansas into the federal education tax credit program, our state can help working families access educational options that best meet their children’s needs, including public, private, and faith-based schools, without impacting the state budget. Surrounding states are already moving forward, and if Kansas does not act, our federal tax dollars will benefit students elsewhere instead of Kansas kids. As Democrat Colorado Governor Jared Polis has said, choosing not to participate would mean leaving hundreds of millions of federal dollars on the table that could support scholarships, tutoring, after-school programs, and other educational services for students in both public and private schools. Kansas should not miss the same opportunity to invest in its children. Kansas already has a tax credit scholarship program for low-income students, but the current $10 million cap has been reached. Increasing this cap would help more Kansas families access educational opportunities they are actively seeking. Please help ensure Kansas families and low-income students are not left behind. Thank you for your time and service.
Sincerely,
______
