You depend on airport rides to add to your income but a major proposal could drive passengers away and put your earnings at risk.
The Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is considering raising the curbside rideshare fee from $5 to an unprecedented $20 per trip, or $40 roundtrip for curbside access.
This would make LAX fees more than 3X higher than any other airport in the U.S.
When rides become too expensive, passengers find other options and drivers lose out. Fewer airport pickups means less earnings for the thousands of drivers who count on LAX trips to support their income.
