Veto AB 1078, AB 1127, AB 1263, and SB 704
Dear [Lawmaker],
I urge you to veto AB 1078, AB 1127, AB 1263, and SB 704. These bills do nothing to improve public safety and instead punish law-abiding Californians who responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights. AB 1078 limits residents to three firearm purchases within a 30-day period. California’s previous “one-gun-a-month” law was struck down as unconstitutional by a U.S. District Court. This bill is a blatant attempt to sidestep that ruling and reimpose unconstitutional restrictions on lawful gun owners. AB 1127 bans licensed dealers from selling certain semi-automatic pistols under the false premise of preventing illegal conversions to automatic firearms. Federal law already prohibits such devices. This bill merely advances California’s gun ban agenda by targeting commonly owned firearms. AB 1263 creates a new crime for “knowingly or willfully” causing another person to unlawfully manufacture a firearm. This vague and redundant measure needlessly adds more criminalization without addressing violent crime. SB 704 requires firearm barrels to be sold or transferred only through licensed dealers and with a background check. This adds unnecessary red tape and burdens law-abiding gun owners for something as basic as a firearm component. These measures will not stop criminals but will instead infringe upon the rights of responsible Californians. I respectfully ask that you veto these bills. Thank you for all that you do for the great state of California.
Sincerely,
______
