Support for Solar in Montezuma County
Dear Montezuma County Officials, We are looking forward to the November 18 public hearing on the County’s proposed solar regulations. The moratorium gave Montezuma County the chance to step back and shape rules that reflect local values. Now, we have an opportunity to put those values into action by adopting regulations that protect what makes this place special while opening the door to new opportunities for families, landowners, and businesses. We care deeply about our schools, our farms, our open land, and the future of our community. Solar energy projects can strengthen each of these things. With thoughtful, balanced rules, solar can bring real, lasting benefits to Montezuma County: - Generate new, long-term tax revenue to support schools, roads, and emergency services without raising taxes - Provide landowners with steady, long-term income that helps them keep land in the family and weather unpredictable markets - Create local jobs and attract investment to our community - Produce reliable, homegrown power that keeps more energy and economic benefits here in Montezuma County - Protect the freedom of landowners to use their land productively and responsibly We appreciate the thoughtful work the County has done so far and the commitment to getting this right. Moving forward with clear, locally grounded regulations will allow Montezuma County to welcome responsible projects that fit our community, strengthen our economy, and preserve the values that make this a great place to live and work. Thank you for your time, leadership, and service to our community.
