Tell LAX NO to Raising Fees

Airport rides may make up a meaningful piece of how much you earn, but a major proposal could drive passengers away and put your earnings at risk.

What the typical UberX customer pays to LAX today:

$4 fee for a curbside dropoff
$4 fee for a remote pickup at LAX-it ($8 total round trip)

What Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is considering:

$16.50 fee for a curbside dropoff
$6.50 fee for a remote pickup at offsite rideshare lot ($23 total round trip)
$16.50 fee for curbside pickup ($33 total round trip)

This proposal would make LAX fees more than 3x higher than any airport in the country.

The LAX proposal creates a massive tax on travelers, visitors, and local drivers who serve the airport. High fees can reduce rider demand, which can directly impact drivers’ earning opportunities.

Tell LAWA Commissioners: Don’t Price Out Passengers. Protect Driver Livelihoods.

Dear [Lawmaker],

As rideshare drivers who serve LAX every day, we are deeply concerned about LAWA’s proposal to raise the curbside fee from $4 to $16.50—a huge increase that would make LAX the most expensive airport in the country for rideshare access.

When airport trips become unaffordable, passengers stop booking rides, turning to personal cars or cheaper alternatives. That means fewer trips and shrinking earnings for the thousands of drivers who rely on steady airport demand to support their families.

A $33 round trip fee increase will push riders away and threaten the livelihoods of drivers who keep LAX moving. This proposal will lead to longer waits, lower income, and greater financial strain on an already stretched workforce.

We urge the Board of Airport Commissioners to halt the planned vote, reject this extreme fee hike, and begin a transparent process that includes driver input. LAX needs solutions that protect both accessible passenger travel and the drivers who serve the airport—especially as Los Angeles prepares for the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics.

We trust the Board will consider the voices of the drivers who help keep Los Angeles connected.
