Kansas public radio stations are navigating the loss of federal funding. Fortunately, many state lawmakers understand the value of public broadcasting in our communities and are supporting it in the state budget.
Now is the time for listeners to help ensure this support continues. Sign the petition to thank your lawmakers for backing public radio in Kansas.
Petition Text
As a constituent, I want to thank you for your continued support of public radio in Kansas. Our local stations are some of the only outlets providing coverage to our communities — especially in the more rural parts of the state, where commercial alternatives are either hard to access or nonexistent. Kansas public radio stations are independently operated and are run by Kansans, for Kansans. They support local jobs and connect me with my friends, family, and neighbors.
Kansas public radio stations serve our state in a way no national outlet can replace, reporting on state and local government, covering the local economy and our agricultural industry, sharing voices and programming unique to our communities and history, and keeping us safe and informed during emergencies. These services are especially vital in distributing fast, accurate, and reliable alerts and information during storm season.
Kansas public radio stations also represent the community values of our state, regularly working together to amplify their programming and services and doing more with limited resources.
As you work to address the many issues facing Kansans this year and consider public radio’s place in the state budget, I ask that you keep our communities connected. Thank you for supporting funding for public media in Kansas.
