Urge Cornell to Condemn Antisemitic Graduate Student Union Resolution

The Cornell Graduate Student Union just adopted a resolution supporting Palestinian terrorism, endorsing the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign, and accusing Jews of “weaponizing” antisemitism.

Call on the Cornell University administration to publicly reject this slanderous, pro-terrorism resolution and the antisemitic BDS campaign.

To the Cornell University administration:

The Cornell Graduate Student Union recently adopted a despicable resolution that slanders Israel and threatens Jewish students.

The resolution:
-Expresses support for Palestinian terrorism, including the October 7 massacre;
-Endorses the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign;
-Demands that Cornell divest from entities doing business with Israel;
-Accuses Jews of “weaponizing” antisemitism to undermine labor unions;
-Invokes made-up statistics and cites data from the Hamas Ministry of Health;
-Declares that Cornell graduate workers “have a responsibility to fight back” against Cornell’s “complicity” with Israel.

I urge the administration to issue a public statement condemning this heinous resolution and the antisemitic BDS campaign, as former Cornell President Martha Pollack did in response to an antisemitic student referendum in Spring 2024. This is critical to ensure Jewish, Israeli, and Zionist students feel safe and supported amid the climate of hate on college campuses and in labor unions across the country.

While Cornell may not control the union, Cornell can — and must — make clear that it stands firmly against antisemitism and that Cornell’s campus will remain a safe and welcoming space for Jewish and pro-Israel students.
