Support the Antisemitism Working Group
Our children & schools need you to
act now!
Dear [Lawmaker],
I’m writing to urge you to stand the with Jewish community in combating antisemitism in our K-12 public schools by voting to support the bill establishing a K-12 Antisemitism Working Group. This bill is currently included in the education omnibus bill and was overwhelmingly supported in the House last year but was not called for a vote in the Senate. Jewish students are experiencing increased harassment, isolation, and bias. According to recent FBI hate crime reporting, roughly 69–70% of religion-based hate crimes target Jews, underscoring the urgency of this moment. Educators are asking for tools to be proactive, not reactive, in creating safe, inclusive classrooms. This initiative establishes a statewide antisemitism working group to bring educators, community partners, and policymakers together to develop guidance and recommendations for training, policy, and classroom resources, while preserving local decision-making. This bill would not restrict academic freedom or discussion. Instead, its purpose is to help schools navigate complex topics thoughtfully and foster respectful dialogue. Addressing antisemitism also strengthens schools’ ability to respond to all forms of bias, benefiting every student. I respectfully ask for your support of this educator-driven, collaborative step to strengthen student well-being and school climate across Connecticut. Thank you for your leadership.
Sincerely,
______
