The Davis City Council will soon vote on whether to adopt the Human Relations Commission’s (HRC) “Report on MAPA Climate & Experiences in Davis.” While the goals of addressing Islamophobia and discrimination are admirable, this report deeply harms our Jewish community through its biased approach. The Davis City Council needs to hear from you before they vote.

Dear [Lawmaker],

I'm writing to urge you to vote NO on adopting the Human Relations Commission's 'Report on MAPA Climate & Experiences in Davis.' This report suffers from three critical flaws:

First, the process has been fundamentally flawed —ignoring available data from UC Davis and the school district, relying on biased sources instead, and refusing to respond to concerns from the Jewish community.

Second, it inappropriately positions Jews and Zionists as the primary problem in Davis rather than addressing the root causes of Islamophobia.

Third, it dismisses documented antisemitic incidents—including threats and assaults that made national headlines—as 'Weaponization of Antisemitism,' gaslighting our community's legitimate safety concerns.

While the goals of this report are admirable, the demonization of Jews throughout cannot be remedied and undercuts any good that may come from adoption.

I urge you to vote NO on adoption, issue a public statement acknowledging the report's flaws, remove it from all City websites, and implement oversight of the HRC to prevent this bias from happening again.
