Yet the Oregon Legislature has asked you to sign a bill that would increase the tax burden shouldered by the state’s residents and businesses by more than $300 million. Please veto this bill. Not only would it raise the tax burden for working Oregonians and state businesses, but it would undermine the Prosperity Roadmap you released just months ago. The Governor’s Prosperity Roadmap identifies three goals: accelerate Oregon’s economic growth; more living wage jobs, now; retain and grow Oregon businesses. SB 1507 would undermine every single one of these goals by denying Oregon businesses the full benefit of federal legislation designed to help businesses grow, invest and hire. SB 1507 represents the first major test of your goals. To pass that test, you must veto SB 1507.
