Fill in the information below to urge lawmakers not to tax your vacation
Dear [Lawmaker],
Oregonians are experiencing an affordability crisis. They’re struggling to pay their bills and buy groceries, and only months ago hundreds of thousands of them said “NO” to higher gas taxes and vehicle fees. Yet HB 4134 would nearly double the tax Oregon assess for hotel stays, which amounts to a big tax hike on vacationing Oregonians. An estimated 30% to 40% of hotel stays in Oregon are by people who live here. One reason people choose to vacation in state rather than out of state: It’s less expensive, and money these days is tight. Oregon’s general fund has grown by nearly 80% in less than a decade. The state has plenty of money to spend without raising taxes on Oregonians or an industry that hasn’t recovered from the COVID pandemic. Please say NO to HB 4134. This is no time to increase taxes on struggling Oregonians and businesses.
Sincerely,
______
