Since 1976, 211 has been Connecticut’s front door to help. When people call 211, a trained specialist listens, assesses their situation, and connects them to the right resources among 40,000 essential services and benefits.

Right now, demand for 211 has grown, but funding has not kept pace. In fact, their Information & Referral line for basic needs has been flat funded for 15 years. The result is real: when people can’t get through during a break at work or in a moment of crisis, they miss out on help they qualify for, from housing support to utility relief, food assistance to mental health services, and much more.

Investing in 211 is a simple, cost-effective way to make our entire social service system work better and ensure everyone can actually access the help that already exists.
