So-called “nicotine-free generation” bans are popping up across Massachusetts, including in the town of Stoughton. These misguided policies are just a way to ban all nicotine products for adults, including smoke-free nicotine products like ZYN that provide alternatives to cigarettes.
So-called nicotine-free generation bans only impact those adults who are of legal age (over 21). They prevent anyone who was born after an arbitrary date on a calendar from EVER being able to buy nicotine. This also puts retailers and their staff in a difficult situation, having to distinguish between two groups of adult customers who are over 21, but only one that can legally purchase nicotine products.
We need you to tell your Stoughton Town Select Board members that so-called nicotine-free generation bans are unfair, as they discriminate against some adults, while hurting the retailers who depend on their sales.
