Antisemitic bias crimes and incidents in New Jersey have reached unprecedented levels. Yet the State’s authorities and public institutions still lack clear standards for identifying antisemitic conduct.
The Legislature’s IHRA Antisemitism Bill (A3558/S1292) provides those authorities with an effective tool to identify antisemitic motive when enforcing existing laws against hate crimes and discrimination. At the same time, it is a rights-respecting measure — protecting free expression, political debate, and academic inquiry while strengthening New Jersey’s ability to confront antisemitism constitutionally and decisively.
Please congratulate the re-elected Democratic leadership of the New Jersey Legislature, and thank them for their continued support of A3558/S1292. Urge them to ensure that, in the final months of the 2024–2025 legislative session, the bill is brought to a floor vote and receives broad bipartisan support in both chambers.
