Take a stand for Turo
Dear [Lawmaker],
I’m a constituent and an active peer-to-peer car sharing user. As part of the upcoming Surface Transportation Reauthorization, Congress is considering an important update to the Graves Amendment which protects incumbent rental car companies — I’d like to ask that you update the Graves Amendment to explicitly include the peer-to-peer car sharing industry. Modernizing this critical policy will ensure that constituents like me can continue benefiting from peer-to-peer car sharing by extending protections enjoyed by the traditional rental car industry. Allowing car sharing participants to compete on a level playing field will drive down costs and support true competition in the marketplace, resulting in lower prices for American consumers. Peer-to-peer car sharing bolsters the entrepreneurial spirit of your constituents by allowing them to earn additional income by sharing a depreciating asset with travelers and locals alike. Car owners, known as hosts, use this income to make ends meet, save for their futures, provide stability for their families, offset rising inflation costs, and build small businesses that support their local economy. Locals and visitors alike benefit from peer-to-peer car sharing services, which allow them to book specific cars that suit their needs while putting dollars in the pockets of Americans. Peer-to-peer car sharing helps Americans run errands, go on road trips with their families, get to work, and go to doctors’ appointments. Please update the Graves Amendment to include the peer-to-peer car sharing industry.
Sincerely,
______
