We respectfully urge you to oppose any language that would impose a nationwide ban on hemp-derived consumable products. Such a ban would remove responsibly manufactured and legally sold items from the market, hurting small businesses and farmers who grow hemp.
Since passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, responsible actors of the hemp industry have operated within the law—providing trusted products, supporting jobs, and strengthening local economies. Rather than eliminating access, Congress should build on this progress by establishing a clear, consistent federal regulatory framework that prioritizes safety, quality, transparency, and removes dangerous synthetics from the market.
Millions of adults across the country use hemp products for recreation and to pair with occasions to rest, relax, and recharge—purchased safely and responsibly through existing markets. A sudden federal ban would disrupt this space and make it less safe, not more. Instead, Congress should work with states, experts, and responsible businesses to create consistent national standards for labeling, testing, and compliance.
The hemp industry supports more than 300,000 American jobs and generates hundreds of millions of dollars for farmers and over $1 billion in state tax revenue each year—contributing meaningfully to local and national economies. A federal ban would jeopardize this progress and remove products that millions of responsible adults rely on.
