The cost of an ambulance ride will double in Clackamas County, where commissioners agreed to give American Medical Response (AMR) a very generous raise. Washington County is considering a similar increase.
Effective immediately, the bill for an ambulance ride in Clackamas County will rise from $1,676 to $2,245. The price will jump again in November to $3,480.
The clear winner?
Private equity investors who bought AMR in 2018 for $2.4 billion.
The losers?
Clackamas County residents who will pay the difference either directly or through higher insurance rates. Are Multnomah and Washington county residents next?
