American families are facing an affordability crisis. Everything costs more from food and housing to everyday goods and services, especially auto insurance. Hardworking families are forced to cover yearly premium increases as lawsuit abuse and frivolous cases drive higher litigation fees and extract excessive settlements, making the system more expensive for everyone. All Americans, not just those involved in litigation, pay the price through higher costs of goods and services. Each year, households shoulder more than $6,600 in hidden expenses driven by frivolous litigation.
Modernizing the Graves Amendment to include rideshare companies would stop bad actors from exploiting loopholes for massive payouts that get passed down to working Americans. This commonsense reform is grounded in fairness and preserves accountability – bad actors remain fully liable for real wrongdoing, and legitimate accident victims retain access to justice and unrestricted due process rights.
