Time is running out. With the Wisconsin legislative session coming to an end, lawmakers must act now to ensure schools are prepared for cardiac emergencies.

Assembly Bill 362 has passed unanimously in the Assembly but still needs a critical vote in the Senate. The bill will save lives by requiring schools to implement cardiac emergency response plans (CERPs). Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time. As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to support Assembly Bill 362, which requires Wisconsin schools to implement cardiac emergency response plans (CERPs).

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death and can strike students, staff, or visitors without warning. CERPs save lives by ensuring schools have clear emergency response protocols in place, trained personnel, and coordination with local first responders.

Assembly Bill 362 passed unanimously in the Assembly for good reason. It is a commonsense, bipartisan solution backed by medical professionals, first responders, parents, and organizations across Wisconsin, including the American Heart Association and its many partners including the Green Bay Packers, American Red Cross, Children’s Wisconsin, Wisconsin Association of School Nurses, the American College of Cardiology Wisconsin Chapter, Wisconsin EMS Association, Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, Kai 11 Foundation, Conquering CHD, Project ADAM, UW Health Kids and UW Health School of Medicine and Public Health.

As session comes to a close, I urge you to do everything in your power to support and prioritize Assembly Bill 362 so that schools are prepared to respond when seconds matter most.
