Call on Congress to Preserve Health Care Tax Credits

Every day, patients rely on affordable health coverage to get the care they need. Enhanced Premium Tax Credits make that possible for millions of low- and middle-income families by lowering monthly premiums and removing barriers to care. Without them, many families would struggle to stay insured.

If Congress allows these credits to expire, families will face steep premium hikes, more patients will go without coverage, and hospitals like Ascension will shoulder rising uncompensated care — creating an unsustainable strain on resources and reducing access for entire communities.

As your constituent, I urge you to extend the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits. Without action, they will expire at the end of this year, leaving many families unable to afford health insurance.

$q1:I’m proud to be part of Ascension, a Mission-drive, Catholic, nonprofit integrated healthcare provider. Every day our caregivers and interdisciplinary teams serve patients who depend on these tax credits to keep their coverage and afford the care they need.

In Florida alone, more than 4 million people receive these credits to lower their monthly premiums. If Congress allows them to expire, Florida families will face steep premium hikes — on average about ($X more per month / X% higher). Many will be forced to drop coverage, leaving them uninsured and far less likely to seek care.

The loss of these credits, combined with ongoing Medicaid cuts and changes to the Affordable Care Act, would put even greater strain on our healthcare system. Nonprofit hospitals like ours would see more uninsured patients, more uncompensated care, and fewer resources to deliver the services our communities rely on.
