Oppose AB 1753 / Support AB 1948
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow resident of California and your constituent, I urge you to OPPOSE Assembly Bill 1753 and SUPPORT Assembly Bill 1948. AB 1753 would expand California’s Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) framework by subjecting ammunition possession to the same enforcement procedures currently applied to firearms. Red flag laws have repeatedly undermined due process protections and stripped law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights. Expanding these provisions further only worsens an already flawed system. In contrast, AB 1948 would extend the validity of concealed carry permits by allowing new licenses to be valid for up to three years and renewal licenses for up to six years. This reform would reduce unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles for law-abiding permit holders while easing administrative burdens on local licensing authorities. Again, I urge you to OPPOSE AB 1753 and SUPPORT AB 1948 in the Assembly. Thank you for all that you do for our great state.
Sincerely,
______
