Pass S.287 and Stop Illicit Vapes

Illicit vapes are flooding South Carolina’s schools and communities — hooking children on highly addictive products at alarming rates. Meanwhile, smoke shops are popping up on every corner, raking in profits from candy-flavored devices that Trump’s FDA has declared illegal.

Our lawmakers have a solution. S.287 will give law enforcement the power to shut down these bad actors, crack down on illegal products, and finally hold smoke shops accountable. But the General Assembly needs to hear from us NOW if this bill is going to pass in January.

Please act now to pass S.287. South Carolina’s kids, and the parents, teachers, and law enforcement officers working every day to protect them, are counting on your leadership this session.
You would not hire an unlicensed attorney. You would not accept medicine from someone selling unapproved drugs. And no parent would knowingly send their child to a school that does not meet state standards.
So why are vape shops still allowed to openly sell flavored vapes that have never been approved by the FDA, many of them made in China, illegally imported, and engineered to hook children?
The answer is simple: we should not allow it. And with S.287, we do not have to.
S.287 is a commonsense, bipartisan bill that finally gives law enforcement the authority they need to shut down illegal vape dealers and hold bad actors accountable. It backs up President Trump’s FDA by enforcing the rules already on the books, rules that far too many smoke shops are ignoring.
This bill is about protecting South Carolina’s children from dangerous, foreign-made products flooding into our schools and communities. It is about standing with parents, teachers, and officers who are fighting an uphill battle and standing up to those who profit from addiction.
