Demand Lawmakers Reject Any Cost-Increasing Government Health Care Mandates

Arizonans overwhelmingly want lower prescription drug costs. In 2023, a staggering 53% of Arizona likely voters reported experiencing higher prescription and overall healthcare costs in 2023.

With so many working families struggling to get by, the last thing we need are more big government health care mandates that would drive costs up even higher. That’s why pushing back on special interests and rejecting any policies that would make it harder for patients to afford the medications they need to stay healthy must be a priority for the 2025 legislative session.

New health mandates that dictate how employers to run their businesses will mean higher prescription drug costs for hard working Arizonans. These costs come in the form of increased out-of-pocket costs on prescriptions, more expensive premiums, and higher deductibles – all while putting vulnerable patients, such as those receiving cancer treatment, at risk.

Tell Arizona legislators to reject any proposals that increase prescription drug costs.

As you prepare for the next legislative session, I strongly urge you to oppose any legislation that will raise costs by injecting more government red tape into the health care system, especially bills that would impose even more health care mandates on employers that offer health care benefits to their employees. This type of government overreach results in a windfall for special interests, but more bureaucracy for small businesses, and higher health care costs for everyone else.
Forcing the government even further into our health care system undermines the ways businesses provide lower-cost prescription drug options to their employees, and, if passed, would increase costs for everyone. Employers know what is best for them and their employees – they don’t need even more government mandates in health care.
Lawmakers should focus on solutions that encourage competition, instead of restricting pharmacy benefits small businesses need to be able to provide affordable health care to their employees.
We all agree prescription drug costs are too high, but overregulation isn’t the answer. I urge you to protect free-market solutions and oppose government overreach in our health system.
